Weekend at the Beach!

As you may have read from a previous post, my grandparents are selling their Florida home. Lucky for us the slow housing market has allowed us to enjoy at least one last weekend. For now the house is for sale but no buyers just yet. Nana, Pam and Vicki were taking their annual spring break trip and Joe and I ran across an awesome deal on airline tickets. $15 one way...I recommend allegiant air. They do have some additional fees but if you can pack light I don't think you will beat the price. We were able to enjoy 3 days of fun in the sun, relaxing on the beach one of my very favorite places to be.

Happy Birthday Aunt Heather!!

Thursday night, March, 12th, our family celebrated Heather's birthday. I mentioned to Joe on the way to Los Primos that Heather was brave to pick a Mexican restaurant on her birthday...Well she had evidently never celebrated a birthday or witnessed a birthday celebration there before. Needless to say she was really shocked when the band came playing and the waitress reached around her with a big scoop of Whip Cream!!! I would say she will pick a meal at home next year like Bruce did! We had a really good time and everyone got a little of the dessert!

What a nice weekend!

Spring Fever!!! Sailor helped Joe with a little yard work on Saturday afternoon. During the process we learned a good way to help Sailor go to sleep. We have warned the neighbors if they hear the lawn mower after dark, don't be alarmed...She drifted off just a few minutes after getting on the mower with Joe. We had been outside playing all day, swinging, playing in the sand and sliding as well as running around chasing Beamer. She crashed for a long 2 hour nap after the lawn mower ride.

We took advantage of another nice afternoon today. Sailor got to go hiking at our lake property for the first time. Sorry no pictures, I really have to do better with the camera. We ended our weekend with a birthday celebration for Uncle Bruce...the big 44! Again no pictures but we had a great time, Happy Birthday and good luck with baseball!

One of Sailor's most favorite things to do is take a bath. She really loves the water and playing until she actually has to wash. I think she would stay in there all day if I would let her. I have to bribe her to get out by reminding her she needs to brush her teeth, probably her 2nd favorite thing to do!

Just a good story!

Several months ago a yellow lab puppy showed up in our neighborhood. Our neighbors across the street began feeding the dog and finally decided to keep him after some convincing from their two kids! They had not had a dog since living here and were so excited about him. He was very pretty and looked to be pure bred. It is not uncommon for stray animals to show up in our neighborhood being that 2 of my best dogs growing up just showed up at our house. Anyway, the kids named the lab Marshal and began to bond with him more each day. After Marshal had lived here for a couple of months a family showed up to claim him. They said their neighbor had seen him from the school bus and they came to confirm. Well he was their dog, his real name was Moses, and he was pure bred. They had actually paid a lot of money for him. He was very happy to see them but sad to say goodbye to his new family that had taken care of him. Of course, my neighbors were upset but decided they would probably eventually get another dog when the time was right. The very next day, Moses' real family called to tell my neighbors that they had them a puppy who was from the same line or at least related to Moses and would be bringing him by. So long story short, we have another Marshal in the neighborhood, this time to stay. We call him "MJ", Marshal Jr.

Chuck E Cheese and Sushi!

A note to all moms and expecting moms...Avoid Chuck E. Cheese, especially on Holiday's that happen to fall on a Saturday!!! For Valentine's day Joe and I decided Sailor had enough "stuff" so instead of buying her a Valentine gift we would just take her to Chuck E. Cheese. I should say Nana convinced us to take her to Chuck E. Cheese, but that is beside the point. Anyway, usually when going to eat anywhere if there is a line or wait we generally turn around at the door because we know better...not this time! We did not know there were rules at Chuck E Cheese, like order, then get seated, so we ventured off to find a seat and everything said reserved. We eventually saw some nice people leaving a table so we bussed it ourselves got seated then proceeded to order which was another huge line! We did shoot basketball, roll the skiball, my personal favorite, and ride on some rides...see below, while we waited for our pizza. Aside from some kid stealing our tickets at the skiball, the games were actually pretty fun. The food was good, but Sailor and I pretty much love pizza anywhere. The biggest disapointment of the experience was the non-emphysis on the band which does no longer include Fatz or Mitzi, it is now Munch's make believe band which, pardon me , but is really no good. You could hardly hear them and they don't even raise and lower the curtain. I am pretty sure they had to be in violation of fire code because you could hardly breath in there, much less move. So, all and all, we did have a good time and I am really surprised the crowd did not bother me more. Anyway moms, make your own decision but Chuck E. Cheese is no Show Biz Pizza!
After our long afternoon, we went to American Signature and picked out Sailor's grown up bed she will be getting sometime soon. She has decided to donate her crib to her little brother or sister because she loves it so much she can't stand the thoughts of the baby not getting to use it!!! Anyway, then we all got to experience Sunrise Supermarket, an asian grocery store, beside Books-a-million! We really did not know what much of anything was in there but I did recognize the smell, the aquarium store, and the dried shrimp my dad used to feed his exotic fish! Then off to Sam's where we did get Sailor her big girl mattress to go ahead and try out for a while before graduating to her pretty day bed. Joe and I decided to spare all the people having a romantic night out the yelling of Sailor not wanting to sit in her high chair so we cooked at home! Like we don't have enough baby sitters, we really did just want to go home and spend the night with our little one! Anyway, the last time I was pregnant, I really did not crave anything consistently. There was not really anything I wanted and could not have except caffeine. I did get over the caffeine pretty easily and didn't really go back to it after having Sailor so it hasn't been bad this time. Well, Joe turned me on to Sushi a couple of months before finding out this time. All sushi is not raw and I could have some but I just don't feel comfortable eating out somewhere knowing it is all prepared in the same place whether raw or not. So Joe has perfected his "Joe Roll" complete with cucumber, sweet bell pepper, avocado and your choice of grilled shrimp or steak! I am addicted so of course, that was our Valentine's meal! I told Joe if UT keeps making cuts at least he could work at Wasabi's sushi bar! Hope everyone had a great Valentine's!!
