Siesta Key 2010

This year we spent our summer vacation in Siesta Key, Florida! We went with Nana, Pop and my nephew Colton. We stayed on Siesta Key but went to visit our other favorite beaches in the area like Nokomis and Casperson. All the boys, besides Brighton, fished at nokomis and we all found some shark's teeth at Casperson. We played on the beach every day and had good food every night.

GrannyFran's art show!

My Grandmother was recently honored with an entire art exhibit just for her at the Oak Ridge Art Center. It was titled "A Progression of Palettes" and highlighted her work from early on using pastels, watercolor and acrylics to her present day work using oil and mixed media. There was a wonderful presentation and reception just to honor her! I have to say I was very impressed to see so much of my GrannyFran's work displayed in one gallery.

Happy 4th 2010

This post is a little out of order. We spent July 4th on the lake as usual. Saturday we went to Sand Island and met up with friends. It was crazy down there with an intense volley ball game set up right beside us with at least 30 people on each team. The kids all had a great time. Sailor loves to swim in the lake and Brighton loves the sand! Sunday we went out to eat on the lake with all the family, then went to watch fireworks on the bank at GrannyFran and Granddaddy's house. We even had homemade ice cream, yummy!

Colton's 9th birthday

Colton turned 9 on July 9th. We had a great time at the party the day before and Brighton had a surprise to show everyone there. He began walking right before we left for the party. He had taken a few steps before but on that day he walked all the way across his room!

A day at the Zoo!

Monday, June 28,2010 was our 7th anniversary! Joe and I spent the Sunday before on the lake together so we decided to take the kids to the zoo on Monday. We had a great day. It was a little hot but we enjoyed the shade and water misters throughout the trails and best of all, no crowd! This was our first trip through the whole zoo and the kids were troopers. Brighton rode the whole time without making a peep just taking it all in. It was so great just watching Sailor's face as she saw some the animals for the first time!
