Brighton Cole Presley

Another "Greatest" day of our lives!!! The greatest day of our lives was the title of my blog almost two years ago so excuse my grammar, but this is the only way I can describe this amazing, wonderful day. Throughout my pregnancy I had many mixed emotions. How can I possibly love two as much as just one? How do I split my time and my attention? Why am I doing this to Sailor who has been the center of my attention and love for almost 2 years.
I truly feel like all those emotions and questions were answered at 7:13pm on August 4th. I can't describe the immediate love you feel all over again to see your child, this little guy come into this world and then to see Sailor's face when she finally got to meet her little brother. Truly "priceless".
Waiting for Brighton!

Our day began by dropping Sailor off with Nana around 5:00am. We headed to the hospital and were admitted. I was dilated to 3cm and having contractions pretty regularly when the doctor came in to break my water. The day progressed a little slowly I guess. I remember being told I was fully dilated and ready around 4pm. I was feeling pretty good. I waited for a while and the nurse finally came to begin pushing about an hour later. I did have trouble throughout the day with my epidural. It would wear off on one side and then the other. The anesthesiologist returned several times to give more medicine but by the time I began pushing there was not much relief. Anyway, I have to say Sailor came into the world much more comfortably but with probably the same amount of effort!
Brighton has had a first name for a while but just like his sister, we gave him a middle name the night after he was born. Cole was not really on the list until very recently. We decided on Cole, after me, Nicole, and also decided he needed somewhat of a normal middle name just in case he hates his first name down the road.
Sailor has really adjusted well. I have been very impressed with her. She is a very BIG helper. She immediately began hugging and kissing him when they first met. She is loving sharing her toys with him, I have to watch as he will be piled high with stuffed animals and other things.
Brighton has done well since coming home. Our first night was good, up about every 2 hours which was to be expected. The next two nights were a little ruff with periods of inconsolable crying. Last night was good again with routine wakings and feedings.

Happy Anniversary, a little late!

June 28th 2009=6 great years! We celebrated on Saturday. We began with breakfast at the lake and a smooth boat ride! Sailor of course got to fish for a while and caught one just about every cast! We swam all day at the pool and had a quite, wonderful supper at home. Filet Minon, yummy!

Happy 4th of July!!

We had a great 4th this year! Joe, Sailor and I began the day with a smooth boat ride and wonderful breakfast on the water. We highly recommend Arrow Head resort and Caney Creek "Papa Joe's" for breakfast, they are both great! Breakfast on the lake is our new thing since I either have to ride really early or really late in the boat to miss the waves. plus I am really loving to eat these days! We spent the afternoon at Nana and Pop's pool, which was very refreshing. Nana cooked most of the day and I must say our meal was awesome. Steak, twice baked potatoes, grilled veggies, courtesy of Bruce, salad, grilled corn on the cob and topped off with Hot Fudge Cake! Did I say I was loving to eat these days? After supper we went back out on the lake for a relaxing pontoon boat ride, or I should say float for 360* of fireworks, without any crowds! Great day, great fun!

Swimming, Swimming, Swimming!!!

Sorry for the poor cell phone clarity. I need help on how to save and post video's from the camera. Anyway, Sailor is loving to swim so much this summer. She started jumping off the diving board several weeks ago and has now graduated to jumping without being caught. I am so impressed with how well she is swimming but it is a little scary at the same time. She is fearless and you cannot take your eyes off of her for even a second. I will definitely be posting more videos of swimming and fishing as soon as I figure it out. Any suggestions are welcome!

Sailor loves to fish!!

Ready to catch a big one!

Sailor loves to rub noses, so she decided the fish needed a nose rub!

She also loves to play with all the bait!

It seems I am always catching up. Joe, Sailor and I have been taking either late evening or early morning boat rides so I can miss all the huge waves and ride in the boat comfortably. Joe is so happy that Sailor loves to fish. She told Buddy to move over, daddy has a new partner. She has caught at least 6 fish every trip.

Panama City Beach, 2009!!

It is official, our favorite vacation spot is having to change. GrannyFran and Granddaddy finally sold their house in Florida. This year we decided to go a little closer and drive to PCB instead of flying on south. I had not been to Panama City since my Sophomore year in college. Let me just say it has changed, a lot. The little dump I stayed in way back then does not even exist. In it's place are several new high rises. I highly recommend Pier Park, a new shopping and amusement area, to anyone who hasn't been there in a few years. We decided we needed to vacation on a budget this year since this is the first time in a very long time we have had to pay for accommodations. Years ago we rented from a private owner at The Summit, a condo on the beach. Mom and dad called him up and he had the week we wanted available. Aside from the whole condo being flooded the week before we arrived, damp carpet and commercial grade floor fans, we really did have a great time. How is that for luck, a huge high rise with, I would not even begin to count the amount of units, and ours was the only one that flooded right before we arrived. We decided to stick it out and deal with the loud fans since the maintenance man said the carpet should be dry in a few days. It did dry up nicely, however, we started seeing wet spots begin to come back up in front of the hot water heater closet. So long story short maintenance thought they repaired the problem only to find out it was the hot water heater all along. All was well once that was changed out and the owner was kind enough to let us stay a few extra days and offered us a vacation on him in the fall. I'm not sure if we will make that trip with a new born but we will wait and see. Anyway, we had pretty good weather with only one day of rain! Sailor was so good and I must say I was impressed with my nephews who tagged along and were very well behaved, most of the time. Heather and Bruce spent that week in Vegas for their anniversary!! Sailor is learning to swim with just her floaties and is just amazing us. She still loves the sand and ocean and can't wait to go back!
